Summer 2022 Graduate

I have been through multiple leadership and coaching programs in my career. The Spiro model is the first one that prepared me to coach upon completion of the program. Through sound research, observational practice, and personal care, the Spiro model empowered me in my life and helped me positively impact the lives of others.

Course Information:

This 30 hour coach training program, specifically for executives and senior leaders in higher education, teaches core essential skills needed to increase organizational, administrative, and leadership effectiveness in universities, colleges, and other academic institutions. Key components of this program include:

  • Research evidence demonstrating the positive effects of coaching.

  • The application of coaching within higher education.

  • The coaching mindset: what it is and when to apply it.

  • Foundational coaching skills: establishing trust, listening, asking questions, creating awareness, designing actions, planning and goal setting.

  • Coaching through the lens of equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Mindfulness and its application to coaching.

This unique, experiential and evidence-based program, custom tailored for people who want to use coaching in higher education, includes both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Additionally, participants will have individual time with their mentor coach to focus specifically on their own coach development needs.

  • Effectively assess when to use coaching appropriately and effectively.

  • Be prepared to apply coaching skills within higher education settings.
